the talent of hard work
When I was young, I always feel that I am maybe someone special, unique. Those that can evolve with a certain limit break, something akin to those anime in which the protoganist can suddenly go over his limit just by intense concentration, or "resolve". Maybe not special or unique, but at least not common.
Then, as you grow up and meet people, you will be humbled. To the extent when you feel that you are as common as common can go. Just like a grain of sand on the beach, or a single blade of grass in a field. And the only way to become a shinier pebble on the beach, or a taller tree in the forest, is to put in more hard work than the rest. So as to be on comparison with the higher tiers of humans.

Random blabberings #4
Being gentle to others meant being cruel to oneself.
Being cruel to others..eventually will bring cruelty to oneself.
Then again, it is not easy being gentle to others.
Some people might use that as an advantage;
Some people might rely on it;
Some people might misunderstand, and get annoyed no matter what the original purpose was meant to be
In the end, good doesn't always beget good.
Yet, true kindness doesn't expects anything back
A finite(albeit little) bit of reciprocation against zero expectation is still like division by zero
an infinity of returns against deposits
blah blah blah. I should get back to mugging.

追梦/ Chase for dreams
I wonder how many people can still stay true to their dreams at this time and age. Setting a goal, and chasing after it regardless of circumstances isn't as easy as it seems on paper.
To go abroad for more than 5 years, and setting a fixed path for 10 years ahead when you are barely 20 requires a lot of courage and tenacity. Maybe not to that extreme, but to leave school and leaving the comforts of one's home environment..I can't say for sure if i can do that.
Then again, i am still immature. Going with the flow, being too conscious of the look of bypassers....
zzz.
One has to grow up no matter what. To reminisce is fine, but the monstrosity of time will just gobble you up if you can't break free of the pull of memories.
(-.- some lousy self-quote)

Chao Mugger
Tomorrow is the start of a new semester. Tomorrow, a new lifestyle, a break from the nua-ing i have from the last 6 weeks.
........
.....
..
.
to summarise what i want to say:
Since i have no life, i shall start to mug like hell and aim for 6 A+!!!!
Advantages of being a chao mugger:
1) Of course the self satisfaction of 6 A+, and the improved CAP
2) Bragging rights. lol
3) No need to spend time in thinking what to do. "When in doubt, mug!"
4) Save money. No need to engage in social activities like movies, going out, etc. All the money well saved can go towards charity or sth.
5) Even AN's and AT's will be in awe of you. I mean, how often can that be?
6) Can slack for a few sems ahead, since a cap of 5 means your results will be imba.
Disadvantages, and why they don't matter
1) No life; life will come when you have cap 5.0. No worries
2) Some people will hate you; but more people will love you ( or your notes). No worries.
3) Tendency to maintain cap; nah. 1 sem of cap 5 is enough. No worries
4) Lack of sleep/fitness; Even if i don't study, this problem will still persist
5) No friends; see number 2.

Distance
This series of short stories set me thinking about the intricateness of relationships and distance.
Check it out here. I can't write as well as someone can, but it gave me a queasy yet "i know its true" feeling. Physical distance can pull apart relationships, be it friendship, kinship or plain bgr. It is both agonizing and saddening to see the process taking place, slowly but surely. And at the same time, how one can get as close to another physically, yet to remain far apart in terms of their thoughts and aspirations is also another theme that is simple, humane yet unexplanable. I have no idea what am i writing here. For the sake of filling up space, or for whatever reason i have no idea at all.
And my fav song currently:
I'm always searching, for your figure to appear somewhere
At a street crossing, in the midst of dreams

Obligatory New Year Post
Finally after an almost 40 days hiatus, during which I embarked on a self-searching journey, a new look is presented.
As we sing auld lang syne to the year of 2008, moments must be spent reflecting on the issues that happened in the year of the rat. The ups and downs, the lefts and straights and etc, the people we meet, the people we wish not to be acquainted with.. All these contributes to a year's worth of memory.
New Year Resolutions? As Yin Foong said, why make them when you know you will break them. A long year lies ahead, and the only constant is change. Dates aren't important in the eternity of a lifetime; only the sense of time, or the recognition of time passing is crucial in this case. A year is merely a measure of time. As with seconds, minutes, centuries. What makes time time is the memory, or the images associated with it.
With that, i give you my most significant event of 2008
And because I didn't have any of my ORD photos, these should suffice. Thanks to chee
